How to Reach the Refuge

Travel by Cruise Ship

. . . to some of the most remote, uninhabited parts of the refuge.

Several small cruise ships travel through the Aleutians, stop at the Pribilof Islands, St. Matthew Island, and some of the refuge islands off the Alaska Peninsula.

Cruise ships use inflatable rafts to motor near seabird colonies and to land their passengers ashore to see the wildlife, plants, historical sites, geology and scenery of refuge islands. It is the only way to visit much of the refuge.

Contact the refuge (sue_schulmeister@fws.gov) for a list of cruise ships with permits to visit refuge lands.
